Light in a World of Darkness

God our Father is Light
- This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5)

Jesus Christ is the Light who came into the world - In Him was life, and the life was the light of
men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. (John 1:4-5)

Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone. The light shines through the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it. (John 1:4-5 NLT)

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall
not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."  (John 8:12)

He has made us to be Light also
- For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. (Eph.5:8)

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.  You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.  Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. (1 Thess.5:4-6)

We shine as Light in a dark world whether we believe we do or not. The kingdom of darkness knows it and fears the light.  People know light when they see it and most are attracted to the light. Have you caught people taking a second glance at you? And you thought it was because you were so attractive! While you may be, the possibility that your light was shining is very strong.

As we naturally move through this world going about our daily business, we ‘move’ the spirit realm of darkness that surrounds and encompasses those who are not light. The darkness moves back and away from the light, giving so much opportunity to us to be of genuine influence in the lives of
people - whether by what we say or what we do. We should not hide the light under a cover of fear or  intimidation, we must remember that light attracts. We are “voices” for light and truth speaking out to a world of darkness through the way we live our lives before neighbors and acquaintances. If we live our own lives by the Spirit in accordance with the Word of God the light shines brighter and brighter and is itself convicting due to the spirit of Truth that lives within and is transforming our own lives day by day.

Ps 119:130 tells us, “The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” The Amplified Bible says the “entrance and unfolding of your words”. When “light” comes, the words you have given entrance to unfold and give understanding. For something to have an entrance an entryway needs to be opened for it. As we read the Bible day by day we are giving entrance to words of life. Some of those words will begin to unfold in our heart and bring understanding of what it is we need to know. The entrance and unfolding of His words gives light to the dark areas of our soul and the understanding of the what, why and wherefore to make necessary changes that our light shines brighter and brighter.

Let your light so shine before men!
